Frank is often considered an Australian singer and it is true he did come from Australia to Britain in November 1959. Frank was born in Coventry, England November 30, 1937 and his Australian parents returned to Dural near Sydney shortly after the war when he was about 9 years old. As a youth, Frank began singing on the radio and was a big hit. Recording since age 13, in six short years Frank had as many as 44 records issued in Australia. Before the age of nineteen he became the number one recording star in Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania. He then took a big career risk. While at the height of stardom in Australia he traveled to London for a fresh start on the larger continent. In London he met with Norrie Paramor of EMI. Once Mr. Paramor heard Frank's perfect pipes he wasted no time signing him for EMI on Columbia. From that time he shot to the top of charts of their most popular recording artists with I Remember You, then soon came Lovesick Blues, The Wayward Wind, Nobody's Darling But Mine, Confessin', and Waltzing Matilda. To this day people identify the songs I Remember You and the popular Waltzing Matilda with Frank Ifield, in any country where these tunes are heard.

FRANK IFIELD became the first artist to ever have three consecutive number one hits in Britain and, also, to be awarded three gold discs in the space of one year! Frank scored success as an international star in the United States, Britain, Australia, South Africa, Canada and many other countries recording in London and Nashville, Tennessee.
For a period of time the Beatles performed as his opening act during concerts.
